Kathy Rooney is a painter and printmaker based in London and Suffolk. Her painting focuses on colour and colour interaction. Using a limited palette, she applies pigment (usually acrylic) gesturally, following the movement of her arm. Then she turns and twists the canvas to allow gravity to pull the paint in different directions, creating overlapping layers and textures which evolve into sinuous shapes and grids. In her screenprints the process of layering and developing texture parallels her painting practice.

She is a member of the Fankle Art Collective (www.fankle.art) and has exhibited in London, Suffolk, Bristol, Luxembourg and Madrid. Several of her works are in private collections in London, the USA and Athens.
