Kathy Rooney is a painter and printmaker based in London and Suffolk whose abstract works focus on the fragility of our planet.
For Kathy colour is crucial. Her images evolve rather than being planned in detail. She enjoys the challenge of a blank canvas or sheet of paper. Gesture is also key.
Her paintings feature layered gestural brushstrokes. In her screenprints she intervenes with spatula, fingers, rags to add depth, texture and to break out of the strict format of the screen. Her palette often features fluorescent pigments.
A late comer to art practice, she loves sharing the joyful energy which art brings to her.

She is a member of the Fankle Art Collective (www.fankle.art) and has exhibited in London, Suffolk, Bristol, Luxembourg and Madrid. Her works are in private collections in London, the USA and Athens.

In her previous career, she was a Director of Bloomsbury Publishing for 28 years.
